How a urinary problem is usually assessed
It starts with questions: what has changed, since when, how often by day and by night, with pain or without. Conditions such as diabetes, your medicines, past operations and your family history matter too.
Then comes an examination and a urine test. If needed, a urine flow test, ultrasound, PSA test or other imaging is requested, and the results are read together with the examination.
Treatment options are explained, with the benefits and risks of each. Sometimes the best step for now is monitoring.
